Kuenerhof—Living in Harmony with Nature in the Dolomites
The Kuenerhof is located in the San Candido and Vierschach area, in the heart of the stunning 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski and hiking region in the Dolomites. Here you can enjoy an authentic farm stay in South Tyrol, surrounded by mountains, meadows, and forests.
Our farm is home to cattle, chickens, cats, and hardworking bees, all of which contribute to a vibrant and natural farm life. Sustainable farming practices and a close connection to nature are at the heart of what we do.
A distinctive feature of the Kuenerhof is its use of wood: many elements of the farm, as well as the new building, are constructed using traditional timber-frame methods, reflecting a deep connection to the region’s architectural heritage.
The peaceful setting in the Dolomites offers ideal conditions for relaxation, hiking, and enjoying nature—a perfect place for anyone who wants to experience authentic farm life in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region.
History
The Kuenerhof itself is one of the oldest farms in Vierschach and is believed to date back to around 1550. There are family connections and chronicles documented through marriages with other farms, such as the connection between the Kiebacher family and the Kuenerhof in the 19th century.
Construction on the new vacation apartments began in 2024 and was completed after a one-year construction period. A great deal of dedication and passion went into the project.
Development
In 1950, a stable for horses and sheep was built next to the farmstead, where horses and sheep were kept for many years. The animals were cared for on the ground floor, while the first floor housed the hayloft and a small workshop where, among other things, everyday items such as “Roddla” were made, which were used in the fields to dry hay.
Since the building was no longer up to modern standards and machinery had replaced the horses, it was decided to demolish it.
Animals
The farm has been raising Fleckvieh cattle for many years. We also have a Grauvieh cow named “Koala,” who has been with us for 10 years now.
The brown laying hens have plenty of space to roam in the yard and the adjacent meadow. They provide us with fresh eggs, and you can see for yourself just how good they are at breakfast.
Our bees are kept at various locations, including right here on the farm. As beekeepers, we take care of the health and well-being of the bee colonies so that, when conditions are right, we can harvest honey as a high-quality natural product.
In 2020, we used the local spring on one of our fields—known as the “Englwiese”—to create several fish ponds, where we stocked both trout and char.
